It’s that time of year—warmer temperatures are calling your name and snow-covered sidewalks are becoming a distant memory. It’s the perfect time of year for new beginnings and personal growth. Whether you’re grounded in your fitness journey or looking for some extra motivation to get started, we’re here to support you! Our tips below are sure to help you achieve your fitness goals this summer and have a blast while doing it.

Soak in the Sun

The sun is out, and Edmonton’s trails are ready to be explored! Take a jog on one of the countless trails and see what the river valley has to offer this spring. Hitting the trails in Edmonton guarantees great views of the North Saskatchewan River and will allow you to find some peace and quiet amidst the busy summer days. You can also take your workout to a nearby park to enjoy the fresh air and catch some rays.

Find a Workout Buddy

It’s always easier to show up for a workout when there’s someone to exercise with. Grab a friend or two and commit to a workout schedule together. If you lack friends and family who enjoy fitness, MacEwan has some built-in fitness buddies waiting for you. Join City Centre Runners, an outdoor running program starting in May that includes a variety of running workouts. Outdoor Bootcamp is a group that completes circuit-style HIIT workouts while enjoying the sun. You can even save big if you register for two or more Registered Fitness Courses at the same time—you’ll enjoy 15% off the total registration cost!

Rain or Shine

For those days when the weather is chilly, the MacEwan University Sport and Wellness indoor facilities are a perfect alternative for your workout needs. Take a few laps in the pool, lift some weights in the fitness centre, or shoot some hoops in the gymnasium to shake up your fitness regime. Don’t miss your chance to get a discounted Spring/Summer pass to MacEwan’s facilities.

Check out MacEwan’s Recreation Leagues and Tournament

You don’t have to win a CrossFit competition or run a marathon this summer to stay in shape. Keeping up with your fitness can be as simple as registering in one of MacEwan’s recreation leagues or tournaments and enjoying your favourite sport! Join those who love playing as much as you do and click here for details about our volleyball, badminton, ultimate, and flag football leagues. What says summer sweat more than beach volleyball? Grab a few friends to hit the sand with the beach volleyball tournament in June.

Most importantly, we want you to enjoy this sun-filled season, whether in the park, on the trails, at the lake, or in the gym. Prioritizing your fitness will surely bring you success and help you feel your best this summer.
