To determine stroke count, swim one length front crawl using a pull-buoy and counting your strokes103_studio-e.ca_4X6_5283.

Swim the same distance without the pull-buoy also counting your strokes. The difference between these two stroke counts indicates how much you are relying on your pull versus your kick.

The majority of your stroke comes from the pull versus the kick. Think about trying to increase the length of your stoke rather than your stoke count.
