Over the summer, MacEwan ITS will migrate faculty and staff from the current Avaya phone system to the Microsoft Teams phone system.

Faculty and staff already use Microsoft Teams for video meetings and messaging. After your MacEwan phone number has been migrated to the Microsoft Teams phone system, you will also use Teams to make internal and external phone calls on your workstation, laptop or mobile device with the Teams app installed. This change will eliminate the need to have a physical desk phone within office workspaces.

The migration to the Teams phone system will occur in phases starting in early July and conclude in mid-August. The project team will reach out to individual groups of people directly with details of the change and information to prepare you for the migration, including the migration date, what to expect, and how to use the voice features within Microsoft Teams. The project team will follow up with each group after the migration is complete to ensure the changes have taken effect and there are no issues.

As a reminder, the Avaya desk phone and the soft client will no longer work for voice calls after your phone number has been migrated to Teams. As the project progresses, Telecom staff will remove the Avaya desk phones from office workspaces.
