Over the next couple of days, MacEwan University will begin a new chapter in what feels a bit like a coming-of-age story. Preparing to announce our first-ever chancellor and recipients of our first honorary doctorates is an important step in our growth as an undergraduate university.

Celebrating these exceptional people and inviting them into our community couldn’t happen at a better time. Now, more than ever, our city, our province and our country are looking to leaders who reflect the hope and optimism that we all need as the world prepares to reopen.

Our chancellor will represent MacEwan in the community and, in many ways, symbolize the future we envision for our university – one in which we will continue growing boldly as a learner-centred and transformative university.

And our first honorary doctorate recipients will set a great precedent in honouring outstanding individuals who have had a significant impact in their areas of expertise and whose work and achievements embody the university’s values.

Stay tuned for more as we prepare to announce our inaugural chancellor and first honorary doctorate recipients later this week.

Dr. Annette Trimbee
President and Vice-Chancellor
