The Career Development Fund (CDF) provides eligible continuing MSA and OOS employees (Band 5 or lower) with opportunities to attend and participate in courses, conferences and/or webinars that are provided by other educational institutions which are directly related to their professional development. Learning opportunities at MacEwan are also eligible for this fund. Each eligible employee can access up to $750 per fiscal year (April 1 to March 31).

As we approach the end of our fiscal year, there are some key dates and associated actions to be aware of:

  • For courses that begin prior to March 31, 2023, the deadline to submit applications is March 22, 2023. 
  • 2022/23 Funds do not roll over into the next fiscal year.
  • For courses that begin on April 1, 2023 or later, please do not submit applications until April 1, 2023 (or later).  We cannot process applications that will occur in the next fiscal year with this fiscal year’s funds.
  • Applications for courses that begin in the new fiscal year will not be accepted until April 1, 2023.
  • HR processing time for CDF applications is three business days. Please ensure that you consider enrollment/registration deadlines of the educational institution you wish to attend and leave enough lead time when applying for funding. 
  • Memberships, exam fees, books, course materials and travel expenses are not eligible expenses for this fund.
  • HR does not manage the Faculty Educational Development funds. Any inquiries about this fund should be directed to your program manager or administration in your faculty.
