The Mitchell Art Gallery is pleased to introduce its latest exhibition, Dress & Escapism: Performance of Identity through Drag and Burlesque Costume, which explores the relationship between performance costume and identity within the highly emotive art forms of drag and burlesque.

The exhibition, which was curated by Josée Chartrand, assistant professor in the Department of Theatre, showcases dramatic examples of social and political art from the stages and clubs of Edmonton by individual performers (Holly Von Sinn, Claudia Hartout, Rusty Strutz and Darrin Hagen), performance companies (Guys in Disguise and Send in the Girls Burlesque) and film (Dirt City Films).

You can view Dress & Escapism virtually from January 26 to March 27. Visit the MAG’s webpage for more information and related programming.
