Over the next few months, you may notice contractors on ladders replacing devices in the ceilings. This is a continuation of a multi-year project to enhance our network infrastructure and improve your wireless experience while on campus. In this phase, we’re upgrading the Wireless Access Points (WAPs) to implement one of the most robust Wi-Fi systems among Canadian universities.

The spotlight of our enhancement is adopting Wi-Fi 6E Technology, which brings along a host of benefits such as:

  • Accelerated overall transfer speeds to and from devices
  • Increased capacity to accommodate more connected devices seamlessly
  • Improved performance, particularly in scenarios with numerous connected devices
  • Reduced battery drain for devices when connected

This project phase is underway and will run until the end of the academic year. Stay tuned to MacEwan Today for regular updates on our progress.
