I am pleased to announce that Dr. Craig Kuziemsky has been reappointed as associate vice-president, Research until June 30, 2029.

Dr. Kuziemsky has thrived in this position over the past four and a half years alongside his decanal colleagues. Together, they have been instrumental in establishing the academic associate vice-president roles as the equivalent of academic deans, eliminating the need for another layer of administration in academic affairs.

First appointed as associate vice-president in 2019, Dr. Kuziemsky is also a dedicated professor in MacEwan’s School of Business. He has taken a supervisory role in the Research Office, Careers & Experience and MacEwan International, increasing collaboration ahead of the three units moving into the new School of Business building.

Prior to coming to MacEwan, Dr. Kuziemsky spent 12 years in academic and administrative positions at the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa. He was also the research chair in Healthcare Innovation at the University of Ottawa for three years, and received the university’s 2013 Young Researcher of the Year Award in the Social Sciences and Humanities. His research primarily focuses on health systems management, specifically the design and evaluation of innovative approaches for the management of collaborative care delivery and health system transformation.

Dr. Kuziemsky has continually raised the profile of scholarship at MacEwan externally, and has supported his colleagues in their efforts to access more research funding both internally and externally. He has shown his commitment to Teaching Greatness in shepherding the tactical plan for scholarship through academic governance. We are thrilled to have Dr. Kuziemsky continue his efforts in this position for another term.
