Butta la Pasta is simple, delicious and affordable Italian cuisine at MacEwan created by Ariel del Rosario (a School of Business alum) and Roel Canafranca, who were inspired by their love of Italian food and wanted to share their favourite dishes on the menu. The duo are also responsible for bringing Takam Market to MacEwan and are best known for founding the market’s flagship concept, Filistix.

Butta la Pasta is a ubiquitous Italian expression, “Throw the pasta in the water, I’m coming home,” and it fits this fast-casual concept perfectly. Often, Italian cuisine is synonymous with “high-end, slow food,” but at Butta la Pasta, you can get spaghetti and meatballs, pasta alfredo and chicken pesto in literally two minutes – all for the same price as a value meal at a fast-food joint elsewhere.

Filistix has always prided itself in using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients as much as possible, and Butta la Pasta is no different. The menu will change according to seasonality but expect a few signature dishes to remain.

“We hope that our love for Italian food comes through in the flavour of the dishes we serve,” says del Rosario. “Pasta is comfort food, and what better way to make students feel at home than a big bowl of spaghetti,” Canafranca adds.
