To increase awareness against changing security threats from hackers and spammers, MacEwan is implementing a new online IT security education course.

As part of the university’s IT security standards, faculty and staff must complete the new IT Security Education program within 60 days of enrolment, and annually thereafter. Users who do not complete the training within the timelines may have their IT resource privileges limited or revoked. Managers and supervisors will be responsible for ensuring their faculty and staff meet the deadlines.

Mandatory completion is required by

  • Probationary and continuing staff
  • Full-time and part-time tenure track and tenured faculty

After reviewing the IT Security Exceptions standard, faculty and staff can complete a request for an extension/exception.
