Upcoming change to fiscal year
Beginning in 2022, the fiscal year will be April 1 – March 31 as opposed to the previous time frame of July 1 – June 30. This also means that the 2021/22 fiscal year will be a truncated one, running July 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. This will put MacEwan’s fiscal year in line with other post-secondaries and the province.

What has been done to date
The project led by Finance is well underway with representation from IT, Academic Affairs and other business areas.

We successfully reached a couple of key milestones by implementing all system changes into PeopleSoft and EPBCS in preparation for financial year-end activities, as well as developed a series of system generated financial reports to provide the ability to report 9mths to 9mths, 9mths to 12mths and 12mths to 12mths.

The 2021-22 fiscal year end schedule and accompanying notes as previously advertised are located in the myMacEwan portal under Departments > Finance > Financial Services > Schedules. This is a key resource for all those at the university performing financial related processes. We appreciate this is a condensed schedule and value the consultation with those holding financial reporting responsibilities across the university over the past several months in preparation.

What to expect
As we near April 1, we are focused with an all-hands-on deck approach to ensuring a smooth delivery of the system and operational changes, as well as navigating through the fiscal year-end scheduled activities.
