Files stored in OneDrive or SharePoint can now be shared with external users for up to 100 days. After that, file owners will have to reshare the files to continue access. There is no notification sent once the limit has been reached.

If the external user is a member of a Microsoft Team, then the limits do not apply. They will have access as long as they are a member of that team.
