MacEwan University officially marks our 50th Anniversary this year. As a community fixture for the last half century, we have evolved into an exceptional undergraduate university.

In late fall, I shared with you Teaching Greatness: Strategic Vision 2030, built over the past year through incredible consensus – both within and external to MacEwan – about who we are, and what we’re great at. As we look to the future, I invite you to attend a series of events where we will more formally unveil Teaching Greatness. Through these events, we will begin to explore the five strategic directions and how we can realize the vision by honouring our place in O-day’min.

I would be delighted if you would join me on February 28 at 11 a.m. when I will share my thoughts on MacEwan’s new strategic vision and directions. A calendar invite will be sent to your inbox in the next few days. I hope, as we return from Reading Break, that you will be able to find some time in your busy schedules to participate.

This will be followed with an opportunity in March to hear from Dr. Monk, Provost & Vice-President, Academic. Dr. Monk will give us a window into insights and priorities he has gathered through a series of conversations with Faculty and School Councils and other academic groups over the past few months on our new vision and directions. And, in May, we will host an in-person event, MacEwan Connects, to share our perspectives on how we can realize Teaching Greatness through our daily work. Our strategic vision will guide us for the next decade, and these events will be a starting point for many future conversations.

I am optimistic and excited about what our future will bring. As we commemorate our 50th Anniversary, please mark your calendar for the weekend of April 28-30 for 50th on Fourth, an event that will celebrate our amazing university, past, present and future.
