I’m thrilled to extend a personal invitation to join us in celebrating our 50th anniversary.

This year at MacEwan, we look forward to marking five decades and how we have evolved during that time – from our roots as a community college into an exceptional undergraduate university. We will celebrate the many people who have contributed to our story, including our more than 80,000 alumni and the thousands of present and past faculty and staff who have supported them. And we will also look forward as we launch an ambitious 10-year strategic vision, creating a strong foundation for MacEwan’s next 50 years.

Today, we’re launching our new 50th-anniversary website – MacEwan.ca/50 – where you can:

Scroll through our history
We’ve curated a collection of 50 key moments from the university’s history in a digital timeline.

Read and share stories
We know that 50 moments can’t possibly capture MacEwan’s rich history, so we’ll also be sharing stories from our people – memories and reflections from the remarkable people who have helped make MacEwan what it is today. We hope you’ll share yours.

Watch for events and initiatives
From opening and sealing time capsules to building photo mosaics and planning anniversary-focused events we will be marking this milestone in many ways. The university will also launch an ambitious 10-year strategic vision and directions, creating a strong foundation for MacEwan’s next 50 years.

Put a 50 on it
Use our specially designed 50th wordmark and templates for your posters, letters, presentations, email signature, business cards and more. Now available at myportal.MacEwan.ca. The mstore also has a selection of 50th anniversary gear.

As we mark 50 years, in a time of uncertainty and rapid change, the experiences we provide matter now more than ever before.

We’re just getting started. And I hope you’ll join us throughout the year, sharing your stories, connecting with us and celebrating our MacEwan community.
