MacEwan University, NorQuest College and the Downtown Business Association are bringing back the annual Downtown Campus Block Party live and in-person. This event serves to welcome students, faculty and staff from surrounding post-secondary institutions, and has quickly become a significant event held in the education district.

Not only does it kick-start the school year for both institutions, it also introduces students to the amenities, businesses and the community that will contribute to their post-secondary experience.

This is one of the most anticipated and best attended events of the year — a time where new students meet new friends, returning students reunite with old friends, and faculty have the chance to reconnect with cross-campus counterparts and community members. Staff can come out from behind their remote home office to be part of the fun.

From delicious food and beverages, giveaways, contests and entertainment by Mercy Funk (playing at Root 107 on Jasper Avenue at 12 p.m.), Rock Jungle Builders, Art Gallery of Alberta and Edmonton Ultimate Frisbee, it’s certainly not a bad way to kick off the Fall term — did we mention everything is FREE?

We are still taking extra health and safety measures to ensure everyone is comfortable attending, and are working diligently to adapt to this new environment in order to address any safety precautions for a live, in-person event.
