Due to a five per cent reduction in the 2020/21 library collections budget, or $125,000, it is necessary to cancel some database and journal subscriptions. These cancellations are unavoidable; however, efforts are being made to identify and cancel resources that will have the least impact possible.

The library has identified the following resources for cancellation. Note that these resources are in addition to the previously cancelled databases, OmniFile and AccessScience, and that additional resource cancellations will take place in the Winter term.

  • Encyclopedia Britannica Online (access ended October 1, 2020)
  • Encyclopedia of Life Sciences (access ends December 31, 2020)
  • Érudit (access ends December 31, 2020)
  • Nature Climate Change and Nature Neuroscience journals (access ends December 31, 2020)
  • New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics (access ends December 31, 2020)
  • PressReader (access ends December 31, 2020)
  • Taylor & Francis – Science & Technology Journal Package (access ends December 31, 2020)

These cancellations reflect a cost reduction of roughly $67,500 for the library, bringing the running total to $89,000 to date. For the rationale for each resource cancellation as well as alternative resources, please see our cancellation notices.
