In an announcement earlier today, Premier Kenney outlined several measures designed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the province. These measures are in place for two weeks, starting on Friday, November 13.

One of the recommendations was to reduce the number of employees in the workplace. Wherever possible, employees who have been working on campus should work remotely. Exceptions are faculty delivering on-campus instruction and employees whose duties cannot be performed remotely. Please speak with your manager or dean to clarify if you have any questions.

Tomorrow is the end of reading week, and we expect that relatively few people will be on campus. This gives us time to work with provincial health authorities to clarify the exact impact of these measures on the university and any effect that they may have for the next two weeks and the rest of the semester. Further information will be communicated as soon as possible and will also be posted on the university website as decisions are made.

Please be assured that the health and safety measures in place on campus meet and exceed Alberta Health Services’ (AHS) standards. Please do your part to help keep the university community safe by taking the AHS Self Assessment if you have to come to campus, and completing the university’s COVID-19 Reporting Form if you test positive for COVID-19.

Thank you for your continued patience and for helping to slow the spread of COVID-19.
