The COVID Special Response team, coordinated by the Office of Research Services (ORS), is looking to recruit faculty interested in joining a Community Engaged Scholarship (CES) project aimed at creating collaborative community-driven solutions for various COVID-19 challenges.

In the October 27 workshop with community partners, we came up with the following research questions:

  1. How might we obtain/secure sustainable funding for organizations to continue providing social services?
  2. How might we increase capacity for organizations in order to meet the demands for services?
  3. How might we identify diversity and inclusion needs of Edmonton employers
  4. How might we research meaningful and sustainable commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion goals?

Our goal is to assemble a team of MacEwan researchers who will address these community research needs. To facilitate these requests, we’re hosting a virtual collaboration session (a design sprint). The goal of this session is to identify areas of research interest and availability to participate in this cooperative research process. If you are interested in being part of the research team or if you are interested in developing collaborative research methodologies, please join us on November 10 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for this online session. This unique research approach seeks to have minimal impact on the time and resources of both community partners and researchers, while providing maximum supportive capacity for community partners who find themselves stretched thin.

Participating researchers may request research assistant support from ORS and all participating faculty will be co-authors in future peer-reviewed publications.

To better understand how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected faculty that conduct community-based research, we are asking faculty to fill out the following form: https://forms.gle/weUfbU3C1eXpLJqT6

If you would like more information or to attend the November 10 session, please contact Cynthia Puddu at ces@macewan.ca by Friday, November 6.
