In order to enhance MacEwan’s focus on the student experience outside the classroom and continue work to ensure that students have the non-academic supports they need to be successful, an Associate Vice-President, Students will be hired to begin July 1, 2021.

As we begin the process of a search for our new AVP, Students, we are engaging the university community in discussions on the role, including key focus areas, functions and competencies. A search committee, which includes representatives from across MacEwan, has been formed to guide the search.

A search firm, Janet Soles and Associates, has been engaged by the committee. Tim Hamilton and Nathan Berko will be hosting a series of engagement sessions and feedback opportunities to provide input, considerations and recommendations on the role. The survey can be accessed here and will be open until October 30, 2020.

Stakeholder engagement sessions with our staff associations and Students Association of MacEwan University (SAMU) will also take place. After the consultation period, the search firm will recommend to the committee the profile and key characteristics of the role, and a national search will commence.

To begin the engagement period, a survey will be available online, open to faculty and staff. Following the survey, a town hall will be hosted on October 29 to expand student consultation. The town hall event information will be shared closer to the date. You may also submit your ideas or recommendations directly to the consultants via email at MacEwanAVPS@jssearch.ca.
