This week is MacEwan University’s Sexual Violence Awareness Week (SVAW), an annual opportunity for us to come together in learning and in dialogue about sexual violence and to affirm our commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive campus community.

This year’s SVAW is held online, and I invite each of you to take part. You can attend an online panel discussion on October 6, or contribute to this year’s Voicing Our Values Campaign by submitting a photo that reflects on one of the values that guide our efforts to end sexual violence: consent, respect, support, sex-positivity, empathy and courage. We look forward to hearing from students, staff and faculty from across the university and learning about what these values mean to you.

MacEwan’s Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Education and Response continues to provide support and information for MacEwan students, staff and faculty members who have been impacted by sexual violence, and to offer opportunities for learning and skill building throughout the year. I invite you to take advantage of the services they offer, this week and beyond.

Sincerely,

Michelle Plouffe
