Current status – July 2 

Elevator #7, serving the Aramark kitchen, located in Building 6 has been modernized and was reopened on June 23.

Elevator #10 located in Building 5 was closed on June 30 and is scheduled to reopen on July 25.

Elevator #4 located in the northwest corner of Building 6 will close on July 28 for four weeks.

Finally due to code requirement, Elevator #8 serving levels two and three in the library will be closed for three weeks to allow for the authorities to conduct a final test on all elevators pending final approval of the modernization work.

Background: Elevator closure in Buildings 5, 6, 7 and 8

The 10 elevators in Buildings 5, 6, 7 and 8 are original to the buildings and built in 1993. Their control system are obsolete and parts are no longer available. This project will replace the control system while simultaneously upgrade the elevators to meet the City of Edmonton’s current code.
