Future-Ready AI Skills: Preparing Students for Ethical AI Use
AI use impacts teaching and assessment, but as AI continues to develop and expand into more areas of our daily lives, universities will bear a responsibility to:
- graduate students who are able to select and use AI tools effectively
- discern when AI tools are appropriate to use and when human minds are irreplaceable
- challenge the biases and limitations of AI systems
- critically examine ethical issues surrounding the use of AI systems
In this session, we’ll discuss some of the AI-related skills and dispositions students need to develop in order to become critical, ethically aware AI users in their future studies and careers and how faculty may begin to incorporate these skills into their teaching alongside other skill sets like critical thinking and communication.
