Recording Available: From AI to A+: Teaching Students Critical Thinking in a Digital Age
If you are curious about how some of your colleagues, who have thought carefully about this topic, approach the complex relation between generative Artificial Intelligence, academic integrity and critical thinking in their teaching, then the recording of the recent panel discussion, From AI to A+: Teaching Students Critical Thinking in a Digital Age, will be of interest to you.
This event saw strong engagement, with 38 MacEwan faculty and staff attending to explore the opportunities and challenges posed by generative AI tools in post-secondary education. Moderated by Academic Integrity Officer Paul Sopcak, the panel featured faculty members Ozlem Cankaya (Human Services and Early Learning), Sarah Copland (English), Eric Legge (Psychology), and William Schultz (Sociology).
Discussions highlighted strategies to integrate AI into teaching, safeguard academic integrity and promote ethical use while addressing how these tools can enhance critical thinking skills. A video message from Janice Kenney (Earth and Planetary Sciences) set the stage for a vibrant session that concluded with a campus-wide dialogue.
The recording is available here until December 2025 for anyone with a MacEwan account.
