MacEwan faculty, staff, students and community members are welcomed to a research talk hosted by MacEwan’s Research Institute for Urban Wellness, on Thursday, November 21 from 4 to 5 p.m. at Roundhouse:
Mimicry in the Migration Regime: Humanitarian Urbanization, Resistance, and Resettlement from Kakuma to Edmonton
Dr. Millar (social anthropologist at Helsinki University) and Majok Lam (MacEwan research assistant), will co-present their findings and experiences of the ways resettlement creates a neocolonial relationship between refugees and governing agencies. In this 40-minute presentation, the research team will address the process of resettlement by demonstrating how process is used by governing agencies to control refugees and refugees themselves to access mobility.
Hosted by MacEwan’s Research Institute for Urban Wellness, interested faculty, staff and students can RSVP at this link.
Space is limited.
