Week-long observances include Mental Illness Awareness Week and Invisible Disabilities Week. Days to recognize include National Coming Out Day, National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and World Mental Health Day.

Important religious observances include Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot and Yom Kippur (Jewish); Navrati/Navarat and Dussehra (Hindu); and Diwali/Bandi Chhor Divas (Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist); and Samhain (Pagan, Wicca, Druid).
