The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is calling for applications for Editorial Board members for our new journal, Pedagogical Inquiry and Practice (PIP), which will focus on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

While there are several established SoTL journals, we would like to distinguish this new journal as part of the character of MacEwan University, with a focus on teaching practice and strengthening student learning. We are known for providing exceptional educational experiences, so we would like to extend that by sharing what we are doing.

Primary responsibilities

  • Oversee the peer-review process and make final decisions on manuscript acceptance.
  • Develop and implement editorial policies and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Editorial Board and reviewers.
  • Promote the journal at academic conferences and other relevant events.

Application process

Interested applicants should submit the following materials:

  1. A cover letter expressing interest in the position and outlining relevant qualifications. Relevant qualifications include experience with SoTL, your record of scholarly publications and peer review experience. Previous editorial experience is desirable but not mandatory.
  2. A vision statement for the journal indicating how you plan to contribute (no more than one page).

Please submit your application materials to pip@macewan.ca by August 15.

Applications will be reviewed by the CTL selection committee and successful applicants will be notified on August 26. Applicants will be expected to indicate their availability for the first board meeting in September 2024. PIP will list board members’ names on our website, but there will be no monetary reward provided, as all positions in the journal are voluntary.
