The Mitchell Art Gallery would like to invite staff, students and faculty to an online conversation with quarto Collective discussing the MAG’s current exhibition, AGREEMENT, in the context of colonial legacies in Northern Ireland and beyond. The discussion will touch on the ability of art practice and artistic research to explore ideas and issues in non-art spaces, drawing on Quarto Collective’s involvement with exhibiting AGREEMENT across communities in Northern Ireland.

The event will be held on August 8, at 12 p.m., online through Zoom.

This discussion panel will be a great resource for faculty and students whose research is related to topics such as the role of art during community conflicts, colonial legacies in local spheres, and the history and politics of Northern Ireland. We will be joined by local community respondents Lisa Mayes, assistant professor of Studio Arts, and Shawn Tse, artist and community organizer.
