In scorching conditions, let’s watch out for each other. If you see someone in medical distress due to the heat, dial 911.

To prevent heat-related illnesses, remember to:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking cool liquids even before feeling thirsty
  • Spend your time in a shaded, cool place
  • Keep cool with fans, water and ice
  • Minimize sun exposure
  • Choose lightweight, sweat-friendly clothing
  • Take regular breaks to stay cool and hydrated
  • Eat smaller but more frequent meals or snacks during the day

When does Environment Canada issue a heat warning?

Heat warnings are triggered when two or more consecutive days expect daytime maximum temperatures of 29°C or higher, with nighttime minimum temperatures of 14°C or higher.
