On or around May 14, 2024, Marigold crews will begin overnight drilling to establish a utility complex on the southwest corner of the 104 Avenue and 107 Street intersection. The utility complex acts as a substation for the electrical power supply for the LRT’s Overhead Catenary System.
This work will be contained within the already established work area. There will be increased construction traffic in the area; however, there will be no further impacts to vehicle, bicycle or pedestrian traffic.
Drilling will occur from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday and is expected to last three weeks. There will be further construction taking place within the area during daytime hours.
To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:
Drivers:
- There will be no impacts to traffic.
Pedestrians:
- There will be no impacts to pedestrians.
Other impacts:
- There will be increased construction traffic to the worksite.
- There will be noise associated with this work, such as that of heavy equipment. Every effort will be made to reduce the impact to the public.
- Area residents may feel vibration during drilling. Noise and vibrations are unpleasant by-products of construction; however, they are both completely normal. Noise and vibration will be monitored, and mitigation measures will be in place.
- These works may produce dust. Dust mitigation measures will be in place.
- For safety and security purposes, the area may be lit with work lights. Marigold will ensure that these lights are not a hazard to motorists or shining into nearby homes.
- For safety and security purposes, the area will be under video surveillance.
- Overnight drilling is expected to last three weeks.
