It’s the season of giving! Thanks to your support and generosity, our 2023 United Way campaign has already made significant strides in creating pathways out of poverty for our community.

  • Give a direct donation to United Way of the Alberta Capital Region: Support United Way’s programming through payroll deduction, or a one-time gift, and help make sure no one is left behind.
  • Support our Dare to Dream Bursary: This unique bursary empowers youth from low-income backgrounds to build a successful future, beginning with a post-secondary education.
  • Help the SAMU Food Pantry with a donation: SAMU provides a food pantry to help students with food security. You can drop off non-perishable food donations at bins across campus or make a monetary donation at the link below!

Don’t forget to attend the Impact Stories Virtual Gathering on December 1, showcasing how lives have been positively transformed thanks to your support. Hear from two individuals who have benefited from the United Way:

IFESINACHI NWATARALI

Ifesinachi (IFE–SINA–CHI) Nwatarali (NWA–TA–RA–LI) is a small business owner who attended the United Way’s Empower U program in the summer of 2022. She describes the experience as both “amazing and informative.” Ifesinachi loves baking, cooking and serving her community.

SUSANNE BLUNDON

Since 2018, Susanne has been serving on the Trauma Informed Committee at The Family Centre as a “lived experience contributor.” In this role, she has helped improve the function and services provided by the Centre by using their personal perspective to better shape how clients and the community are served.

In Susanne’s personal life, she is a married mother of two elementary-aged children and has two cats (Cheese and Soup). Susanne spends her free time volunteering at her children’s school and singing in a classical chamber choir. You can also find her playing fiddle at gigs all over town with the Wild Rose Fiddlers, where she serves as President.

Your continued support is vital as we work towards creating even more pathways out of poverty for those in our community. Together, we can make a lasting impact, and Giving Tuesday is an ideal moment to reaffirm our commitment.
