Ending Sexual Violence: Week of Action, October 2-6

MacEwan University’s seventh annual Ending Sexual Violence: Week of Action (formerly Sexual Violence Awareness Week) will take place on October 2 – 6, 2023.

This year’s keynote presentation, “The Trouble with Girls in the Lab…”: The Unacceptable Costs of Gender-Based Violence in the Sciences, will be delivered by Dr. Imogen Coe, an internationally recognized thought leader in equity, diversity, and inclusion in STEM fields. Our dynamic program of events also includes a student-led art gallery, a workshop on masculinity, and a drop-in self-care space.

Importantly, Wednesday October 4 is the National Day of Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. To honour this day, we invite you to learn about teachings of Indigenous Matriarchy and to create space for community connection and healing through craft at kihêw waciston.

This annual initiative is an opportunity for learning, dialogue and community-building as we work to foster a culture of consent on campus. All are welcome to come together and join the conversation! Visit the Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Education and Response’s website for more information and to see the full schedule of events.
