Are you interested in personal safety? The Edmonton Police Service (EPS), in partnership with Neighborhood Empowerment Teams (NET), will present on this topic in the Kule Theatre on August 23, 2023. This 90-minute presentation will discuss risk reduction strategies and avoidance tactics that will be immediately usable for attendees based on best practices identified by NET.
NET works with residents, communities, businesses and organizations to build solutions to create safe and vibrant neighbourhoods and communities. They respond to repeated or significant incidents that may impact the security and safety of Edmontonians across the city. This goal is achieved by working with the community to address the factors contributing to the issue and reducing the fear of crime and social disorder using problem-solving approaches.
The main focus of NET’s work is to identify recurring situations which affect the perceptions or realities of a community’s safety and which would benefit from proactive and preventative interventions. The goal is to identify and implement innovative strategies and work with the community to address factors contributing to the situation, ultimately working toward a resolution of the incidents which are creating or contributing to the issue.
Doors open at 9 a.m.; the presentation begins at 9:30 a.m.
