Lane Closures on 104 Avenue Between 107 Street and 109 Street

This work was previously scheduled to begin May 26, it will now begin July 25, 2023.

Marigold Infrastructure Partners will begin drainage works on 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street.

This work will be performed in four phases. To accommodate this, traffic on 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street will be shifted away from the work site and reduced to two lanes in either direction. This lane reduction will be permanent in order to accommodate the footprint of the Valley Line West LRT.

Traffic on 109 Street at the 104 Avenue intersection will also be shifted away from the work zone and reduced to two lanes in either direction.
Pedestrian access will be maintained; however, detours may be implemented. Please follow project wayfinding signage.

Construction will occur during the day (7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday).

This work is expected to last four months.
Phase One – two weeks
Phase Two – ten weeks
Phase Three – two weeks
Phase Four – two weeks

Phases One & Three – Middle of 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

Drivers:

  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street will be shifted north and south away from the work zone.
  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street will be permanently reduced to two lanes in either direction.
  • Traffic on 109 Street at 104 Avenue will be shifted west and temporarily reduced to two lanes in either direction.
  • Turn movements will be maintained on 104 Avenue at 109 Street and at 107 Street.

Pedestrians:

  • The east crosswalk across 104 Avenue at 109 Street will be closed. Please use the west crosswalk.
  • The west crosswalk across 104 Avenue at 107 Street will be closed. Please use the east crosswalk.
  • Detours will be in place. Please follow project wayfinding signage.

Phase Two – North side of 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street

To accommodate this work, the public will be impacted in the following areas:

Drivers:

  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street will be shifted south away from the work zone.
  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 109 Street will be permanently reduced to two lanes in either direction.
  • Traffic on 109 Street at 104 Avenue will be shifted west and temporarily reduced to two lanes in either direction.
  • Turn movements will be maintained on 104 Avenue at 109 Street and at 107 Street.
  • Access to MacEwan University at 108 Street will be closed.

Pedestrians:

  • The east crosswalk across 104 Avenue at 109 Street will be closed. Please use the west crosswalk.
  • Detours will be in place. Please follow project wayfinding signage.

Phase Four – Southeast corner of 104 Avenue at 109 Street and middle of 104 Avenue between 107 Street and 108 Street

Drivers:

  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 109 Street and 108 Street will be shifted north away from the work zone.
  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 108 Street and 107 Street will be shifted north and south away from the work zone.
  • Traffic on 104 Avenue between 109 Street and 107 Street will be permanently reduced to two lanes in either direction.
  • Traffic on 109 Street at 104 Avenue will be shifted west and temporarily reduced to two lanes in either direction.
  • Turn movements will be maintained on 104 Avenue at 109 Street and at 107 Street.
  • Access to/from 104 Ave to the alley between 108 Street and 109 Street (south) will be closed.

Pedestrians:

  • The east crosswalk across 104 Avenue at 109 Street will be closed. Please use the west crosswalk.
  • The west crosswalk across 104 Avenue at 107 Street will be closed. Please use the east crosswalk.
  • Detours will be in place. Please follow project wayfinding signage.

Other impacts for all phases:

  • Construction work will occur during daytime hours (7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday).
  • There will be noise associated with this work. Every effort will be made to reduce the impact to the public.

  • This work is expected to last two months (approximately two weeks in each phase).
