MacEwan University is taking a major step forward in modernizing our technology footprint when we migrate many of our business applications from our local data centre to Amazon’s AWS Cloud Services on February 21. Moving our data processing needs to the cloud is part of our long-term technical strategy. Cloud services offer several advantages including enhanced cyber security, greater operational resilience and stability, and cost savings over the long term.

Pending a final readiness review, our plan is to migrate over the long weekend: all PeopleSoft applications will be unavailable from 5 p.m. on February 17 to 8 a.m. Tuesday, February 21. During that period, you will not be able to log in. A back-out plan is in place should we encounter any significant issues during the migration.

paskwâwi-mostos mêskanâs (our digital learning environment) will be unaffected by the PeopleSoft outage.

The following will not be available:

Faculty and staff services:

  • Access to HR and Payroll Self-Service
  • Entering or approving time, reviewing pay or personal information
  • Entering grades in PeopleSoft
  • Accessing the eCV system
  • Entering and approving any Finance and EPACS transactions
  • Accessing the Online Grant Application System

myStudentSystem will also be down.

If you have any questions about the migration, contact either Charles Smith or Vamsi Ramanadham.

After the migration you will not see any visible changes to the PeopleSoft interface, and current information/data will not change. Users will still sign into PeopleSoft applications via MacEwan Single Sign-on. VPN, however, will no longer be required for typical faculty or staff access to PeopleSoft when you are off campus. With the cloud solution you can securely access PeopleSoft from anywhere that has internet access.

If you notice unexpected changes or have issues after the migration, contact the MacEwan Help Centre.
