February is Black History Month. The Office of Human Rights, Diversity and Equity is partnering with the MacEwan University Black Student Alliance, SAMU and the National Black Coalition of Canada this year to celebrate the achievements and contributions of Black Canadians, past and present.

The month kicks off with an opening ceremony at Edmonton City Hall, in collaboration with NorQuest College and the University of Alberta.

There will also be an on-campus pop-up shop featuring local and student artisans, a workshop by Overture with the Arts,  as well as screening and discussion of the film, Black Lives in Alberta: Over a Century of Racial Injustice Continues.

There will also be a networking event for Black students with professionals from various sectors. The month will finish off with rhythm and movement events being hosted by SAMU.

We look forward to seeing you there!
