Upcoming change to fiscal year
Beginning in 2022, the fiscal year will be April 1 – March 31 as opposed to the previous time frame of July 1 – June 30. This will put MacEwan’s fiscal year in line with other post-secondary institutions and the province.

What has been done to date
The project led by Finance is well underway with representation from IT, Academic Affairs and other business areas. We have successfully reached a key milestone by performing a mock year-end business process in the month of December. We are pleased to share that our comprehensive testing resulted in no issues.

We are now concentrating efforts on making updates to the EPBCS (budgeting system) to align with the year-end change and testing both HR and Finance system data integrations into EPBCS. We also are developing and testing a number of financial reports currently to include the ability to report on expanded scenarios for this stub fiscal year.

The revised year-end schedule and notes are posted on the myMacEwan portal under Financial Services Process Overview > Schedules. We thank all those that contributed towards the development of the revised schedule and will continue to work with all stakeholders to comply with the timelines presented.
