I’m pleased to announce that our Fall 2021 term plans are coming together, and we are excited to get you back on campus for the resumption of our incredible MacEwan University experience. As we developed our plans, we knew that there was a possibility that health and safety restrictions may allow for a return to campus. Based on the provincial vaccination timeline, we are feeling optimistic about the fall and our plans allow us to be flexible and able to respond to any changing circumstances around COVID-19.
Yesterday, the Minister announced that it is expected that restrictions will be lifted in advance of the fall and that post-secondaries should plan for a return to on-campus learning activities in September. I am pleased that our thoughtful planning over the last few months has us well-positioned for this direction.
The Fall 2021 term is planned with more face-to-face delivery on campus. We will also enhance our offerings and have more flexibility for our students by leveraging what we have learned from our quick pivot to hybrid and online learning. We have also learned that by combining online programming with place-based experience, we can continue to create more opportunities for our students and facilitate flexible pathways and access to post-secondary learning opportunities.
As Edmonton’s downtown university, we are proud to be a place where students experience transformational change through interactions with our faculty, staff, and the surrounding community.
Like all of you, I’m looking forward to an active and vibrant campus this fall – and to experiencing the enthusiasm and energy of our campus community.
We will continue to provide updates on our plans for the Fall term via email and on our website.
Please be safe,
Dr. Annette Trimbee
President and Vice-Chancellor
