I am pleased to announce that Cassie Prochnau has agreed to serve a one-year term as Interim Dean of the Faculty of Health and Community Studies, effective July 1, 2021. Professor Prochnau is our current Interim Associate Vice-President, Students & Teaching, seconded from her ongoing appointment in the HCS Dean’s Office.
Sharon Hobden has agreed to extend her term as Associate Dean in Health and Community Studies through June 30, 2023.
With these moves, Health and Community Studies will continue to benefit from strong, experienced leadership while we search for a new Dean during the 2021/22 academic year. Dr. Fred McGinn, whose five-year term is coming to an end, announced earlier that he will not seek reappointment.
I would also like to acknowledge that Lindsay McAlpine, head coach of the Griffins women hockey team, is now also serving as Interim Director of Athletics. We plan, later in Spring, to search for a replacement for Ken Schildroth, who has rejoined his family in Ontario.
Dr. Craig Monk
Provost & Vice-President, Academic
