This January, MacEwan is welcoming a true Canadian favourite to campus as part of Local Restaurant Row. After more than two decades of serving visitors from around the world in Jasper, Patricia Street Deli has begun a new chapter in Edmonton – opening a location on 111 Street behind Allard Hall and bringing its legendary sandwiches, house-made soups and sweet treats to the Building 6 food court for the Winter 2026 term.

Founded over 20 years ago by Glen Leitch, the deli grew from a small-town gem into a must-visit destination recognized in international guidebooks. In 2024, the devastating Jasper wildfire destroyed the restaurant, marking a heartbreaking turning point for Glen and his wife, Wendy, while also revealing the strength of their family-run legacy.

This has always been more than a place to grab a sandwich. With their children now partners in the business and a grandchild stepping into day-to-day leadership, the deli is proudly multigenerational, with more than half of the team made up of family members. After 16 months of rebuilding, reflecting and reimagining what’s next, they’re ready to share the same warmth and hospitality with the MacEwan community.

You can find Patricia Street Deli on campus at Local Restaurant Row in Building 6.
