As we approach the new year, we take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of reviewing and updating your tax information. The 2026 Tax Forms (TD1 and TD1AB) can be found using the following link: Canada Revenue Agency – 2026 Tax Forms.

These forms include Federal and Provincial Personal Tax Credits and are essential in determining the correct amount of income tax to be deducted from your pay.

Why is it important to review and update your tax forms?

  • Ensuring that the personal tax credits information on your tax forms is current helps us withhold the correct amount of income tax from your pay and avoid unexpected tax liabilities at year-end filing of income tax returns.
  • Updating your tax forms ensures that your personal circumstances are accurately reflected. Your eligible tax credits may have changed if you’ve experienced significant life changes during the year (e.g., your spouse or common-law partner starting or ending employment).
  • Keeping your tax forms current allows you to take full advantage of all applicable tax credits and deductions and optimize your tax situation and possibly increase your net income.

At any time during the year, employees should submit a new TD1 form within seven days of any change to their personal tax situation that impacts their tax credit amounts.

Tip for Forms: Please remember to fill in amounts in the Basic Personal Amount, and the Total Claim Amount on the forms. If you are claiming Zero as your total claim amount, please remember to indicate that you have more than one employer or payer at the same time (page two checkbox).

If you would like to update your TD1/TD1AB tax exemption amounts for 2026, please send completed forms to biweeklypay@macewan.ca.
