Due to the recent changes in public coverage for the COVID vaccine in Alberta, where residents will now be charged for the vaccine, GreenShield has confirmed that effective October 20, 2025, the vaccine will be covered under the plan and will follow the same reimbursement as other prescription drugs on employees’ benefit plans. This coverage is only available in the province of Alberta for members between the ages of 12 and 64 years (provincial coverage is in place for individuals under 12 and those over 65).

Employees will be able to submit their claims for the COVID vaccine electronically in the GreenShield claims system effective November 1, 2025. Employees who paid out of pocket prior to November 1, 2025, will be able to submit their receipts manually for reimbursement.
