Are you preparing to teach at the university for the first time, or have you taught before and are looking for a stronger foundation before fall?

In July, we are offering information sessions to introduce you to the Teaching Essentials Institute – a supportive, hands-on series of clinics designed to help instructors build confidence around foundational elements of teaching and include opportunities for networking with other new faculty. You will work on the design of your own course(s). The Institute is scheduled on campus during the week of August 11 and leads to a certificate.

Key topics in the Institute include:

  • planning your first class and welcoming students
  • creating engaging, inclusive learning experiences
  • designing meaningful, transparent assessments
  • creating rubrics and marking guides
  • considering guidelines for giving feedback to students
  • exploring potential applications of AI

These information sessions are also a chance to ask questions and see if the Institute is the right fit for you.

Register for one of our information sessions:

Thursday, July 24, 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Wednesday, July 30, 10–10:30 a.m.
