Amid the celebration of our graduates at Spring Convocation, we’ll also be marking the ceremonial end of Dr. Anthony (Tony) Fields’s historic role as MacEwan University’s first chancellor. A renowned oncologist and visionary leader in cancer care, Dr. Fields began his four-year term as chancellor on July 2, 2021.

As he was our inaugural chancellor, we didn’t fully know what a chancellor could be for our university. Dr Fields stepped into this voluntary role, steeped in ceremony, and delivered with grace and style. He also served as a mentor, sharing wisdom, compassion, and sage advice with students, faculty and staff alike. Many of us at MacEwan now have fond memories of meeting Dr. Fields and his presence on campus.

Read more about Dr. Fields’s impact on MacEwan as we bid a fond farewell to our first chancellor, and wish him all the best in his retirement.

Sincerely,

Dr. Annette Trimbee
President and Vice-Chancellor
