Keynote speaker – Roman Waschuk
Our keynote speaker this year is Roman Waschuk, who will be presenting on “Ukraine: Lessons in Societal and Economic Resilience from a Country at War”.

A seasoned Canadian diplomat and former Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine, international policy expert, and Ukraine’s Business Ombudsman – Waschuk has spent decades at the frontlines of diplomacy and resilience. His insights on societal and economic survival in wartime Ukraine are more relevant than ever. He played a pivotal role in strengthening Canada-Ukraine relations, supporting democratic reforms, and expanding Canadian assistance programs during one of Ukraine’s most turbulent times. Fluent in seven languages, he’s been a driving force for anti-corruption, transparency, and economic resilience in Ukraine’s business sector as the country’s Business Ombudsman since 2022.

The Kyiv Konnection Banquet is an annual banquet organized by the Ukrainian Foundation for College Education (UFCE) in support of URDC programming.
