MacEwan has a campus-wide license for the interactive presentation software, Mentimeter, which is available to faculty, staff and students.

Instructors can now identify participants and link responses to specific individuals using Mentimeter’s new Participant Name feature. This feature requires participants to enter their names before joining a presentation. Once activated, their names appear alongside their responses during the session and in the results afterward, offering better transparency and understanding of individual contributions. Names are specific to a session and will need to be re-entered for new sessions.

This feature allows instructors to track participation, assess individual contributions and provide personalized feedback. As well, it enables follow-up on specific ideas or responses for deeper discussion or clarification, enhancing the overall learning experience.

For privacy and transparency concerns, students should be informed if the Participant Name feature is enabled.

How do I enable the Participant Name feature?

  1. Open the Mentimeter presentation editor.
  2. Go to the Interactivity tab and toggle “Participant names are required.”
  3. Participants will then be prompted to enter their names before joining the presentation.

Where can I see participant names?

    • During the presentation: Names are visible on supported slide types such as Multiple Choice, Open Ended, Scales and Q&A.
    • After the presentation: Names are visible in the Results page and can be exported to Excel for further analysis.
