You have chosen your benefits… What is next?
Did you know that choosing your benefits is just the first step? Once the annual benefits enrollment window has closed, there are still some things to know and do to get the most from your benefits.
Know
- If you did not make any changes during annual enrollment, your benefit coverage will remain the same for the upcoming year.
- Your new benefit choices are effective January 1. Note: all new benefit choices will be updated in the GreenShield claims system in the first week of January. You may need to pay out of pocket for a claim to allow for the system processing time, then submit the claim online for reimbursement.
- Benefit choices can be updated every fall through the annual benefit enrollment process or at any time if you experience an eligible life event, such as getting married or having a child.
Do
- Register on the GreenShield+ claim site and download the app to access your benefits card, submit claims online, sign up for direct deposit and explore the various programs GreenShield+ offers.
- Ensure you have reviewed and signed your beneficiary designation form with GreenShield and have completed any applicable required documentation (e.g., evidence of insurability). These documents are available through the GreenShield Admin Portal under the Documents tab.
- If you have health and dental premiums deducted from your biweekly pay, you can submit these premiums to your Health Spending Account for reimbursement. You can find your year-to-date premium payments by running the HSA Health & Dental Premium Report from PeopleSoft Employee Self-Service. This report will serve as your receipt when you submit your claim. For instructions on how to submit premiums, please refer to the Health Spending Account document on the portal.
- Ensure to submit any outstanding 2024 health, dental, and spending account claims to GreenShield.
Detailed information is available in your Benefits Booklet, which you can download from the MacEwan portal under – Well-Being & Benefits>Benefits>Flexible Benefits Plan.
