Join Us for a discussion on academic integrity in the age of AI
In-person: Tuesday, October 15, 9:30-11 a.m., 7-269
Online: Thursday, October 17, 2-3:20 p.m.
For the first time since MacEwan began recording incidents in 2008, plagiarism was not the most common form of reported academic misconduct in the 2023/24 academic year. Instead, improper use of artificial intelligence now holds that dubious title.
In this session, Paul Sopcak (Academic Integrity Office) and Mavis Leung (Centre for Teaching and Learning), will discuss MacEwan’s approach to promoting academic integrity and reducing misconduct, with a specific focus on recent developments related to the omnipresence of generative AI tools. We will allocate ample time for Q&A, so please submit any burning questions via this Google Form to ensure we effectively address them during the session.
This event is part of the International Day of Action for Academic Integrity on October 16, 2024, themed “All hands on deck: Making academic integrity everyone’s job.” This global initiative emphasizes the shared responsibility of faculty, staff, and students in promoting academic integrity, extending into professional ethics.
We look forward to your participation!
