The 10 elevators in Buildings 5, 6, 7, and 8 are original to the buildings built in 1993. Their control system are obsolete and parts are no longer available.  This project will replace the control system while simultaneously upgrade the elevators to meet City of Edmonton’s code.

The project will last from September 2024 to September 2025. Each elevator is scheduled to close for five weeks, one elevator at a time.

The first elevator to close will be the elevator next to the Cafeteria in Building 6. The closure will be from September 9 to October 11 (inclusive). Maps indicating the location of the nearest alternate elevators are posted at the entrance of the elevator at each level. A detailed schedule of closures for all 10 elevators is attached.

The schedule was arrived at after exhaustive consultation with all Faculties/Departments. We regret the inconvenience caused.
