Mitchell Art Gallery invites staff, faculty and students to attend a free workshop by artist Amanda Dunsmore, in conjunction with the artist’s current exhibition: AGREEMENT. Dunsmore will be conducting a two-hour workshop about how we commemorate and honour people of social and personal significance who have transformed our worlds.
The workshop will involve learning about Dunsmore’s research-intensive and relational engagements with such figures in her work, and then exploring creative prompts and conversations around acknowledging the influential people in our spheres. This workshop is an opportunity to think through monuments and other forms of marking impacts of people and events in public art and other forms of commemoration.
Date: Wednesday, June 19, 1 – 3 p.m.
Location: 11-171 (Workshop Room), Roundhouse, Allard Hall
No experience or registration required and all materials will be provided. Please see details on our website: mitchellartgallery.macewan.ca/events/workshop-art-and-commemoration
