For faculty and instructors, we have exciting news – The Careers & Experience office is gearing up to host our annual Engage MacEwan event, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to extend a warm invitation to you!

Are you interested in bringing learning to life in your classroom through collaboration with community partners? Perhaps you’re already engaged in such collaborations and are looking to expand your network for student projects, research endeavors or community-involved research. Engage MacEwan is the perfect opportunity to connect with community partners who can support your academic initiatives.

This year’s event will take place virtually. You’ll have the chance to meet representatives from nonprofits, local businesses and organizations beyond our community. These partners will present real-world challenges, offering students the chance to apply their classroom learning to authentic problems. The event will primarily focus on identifying potential community/course matches for the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters, following discussions on effective collaboration strategies.

Event Format:

  • Virtual
  • Brief presentation on various types of experiential learning (Placement vs. Project), including best practices
  • Rotating small group sessions between community partners and instructors to explore collaboration opportunities (short, repeated group sessions in breakout rooms)

When:

  • Date: Wednesday, May 8, 2024
  • Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. (with optional Q&A lunch hour)
  • Location: Virtual platform – Zoom

A list of registered community partners will be shared closer to the event date. If you have specific partners in mind that you’d like to see at the event, please feel free to share their information with us.

Please register via this link by March 29.
